Eredivisie Shirt Festival: an ode to the football shirt

Together with the Eredivisie, Fox Sports, Santos and the AD, we have launched the Eredivisie Shirt Festival, an ode to 64 years of Dutch football history, starting with an online ballot supported by all Dutch professional clubs. It’s a poll for the most beautiful Eredivisie shirt ever.

By way of an online platform, fans can choose from over 1754 football shirts that have been worn by all the clubs in the premier league since 1956. It’s a unique, never-before-seen collection, and it’s a trip down memory lane too, because every shirt has a story, a memory or an anecdote attached to it.

Fans can vote for their favourite football shirt until the beginning of May, after which every club will announce its own ‘most attractive shirt ever’. On 8 May, a professional jury consisting of Jan-Joost van Gangelen, Frank Evenblij, Arno Kantelberg, Sjoerd Mossou and Victoria Koblenko will then choose the most attractive shirt in the history of the premier league.

Eredivisie Shirt Bible

Specifically for this campaign, the football magazine SANTOS created the Eredivisie Shirt Bible: a standard reference work that will be available in the shops from 17 April. The book will provide a detailed account of all of the clubs’ special designs, club colours, stories and anecdotes, as will various Eredivisie and club channels, Fox Sports and Dutch daily newspaper the AD.

May 8 will also be declared Football Shirt Friday by the Eredivisie: the day on which every football fan in the Netherlands will wear their favourite shirt.
